FAQs

What does the Back Liberator do?

The Back Liberator is specifically designed to alleviate back pain by using natural gravitational forces to apply traction to your back.

What is traction?

Traction is the method whereby force is applied to stretch and elongate the spine. As the pressure on the vertebrae is released, the spine becomes decompressed and the pain is relieved.
Health care professionals have been using traction for years to alleviate low back pain. The problem is, you can’t always visit your therapist when back pain strikes. With the Back Liberator you may now be able to gain the benefits of traction as needed, in your own home.

How do I set it up?

The Back Liberator frame and harness each come fully assembled. You will need to make some simple minor adjustments the first time you use the device so it is fitted to your size and body shape, but after this you should not need to adjust it again. Set up is quite easy and can be done by anyone. Comprehensive instructions are provided with the device but we recommend you have someone else with you when setting up and using the first time.

Will it fit me? What sizes do you have?

The harness and frame are both multi-adjustable so you can set each to suit you perfectly. We recommend you play around with the adjustments to get it just right. You should be held tightly around the torso, with minor discomfort at first in some cases, so that you do not slip down inside the harness once you are suspended in the frame.
Please note that Back Liberator is currently not approved for use by anyone weighing more than 125kg (275lbs).

What does it feel like?

This will vary from person to person. Some people experience almost immediate relief, others find it may take longer to experience pain relief and there is also the possibility that it may not provide any relief, in which case it is not suited to you and we would recommend returning the product. Some people also find that the effects improve with time, possibly as they get more comfortable with the device.

The sensation of being in the Back Liberator can be unusual or slightly uncomfortable at first. Often people find adjusting the harness position and settings alleviates this and they get used to it in a short time. If you are at all concerned or experience any pain please stop using it and consult your medical practitioner.

Is it painful? Does it hurt?

While the sensation of being in the Back Liberator can be unusual and slightly uncomfortable at first if you experience any pain you may want to make sure you have fitted it correctly and try again. If pain persists however we recommend you stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.

How long does the pain relief last?

Because everyone is an individual there is no way of knowing how it will affect each person. We have found that typically pain relief lasts for a few hours and in some cases longer.

However it is possible that it may not work for you, in which case we would ask that you send the product back for a full refund.

How do I use it?

You simply place the frame on a flat seat, steady chair and buckle the harness (which you will have adjusted to fit your body shape and size) firmly around your torso, like a large belt.

You then position yourself over the frame and lower yourself down so that the hooks on the harness slide into the holes on the frame. Then you just relax for 5 -15 minutes.

You might want to watch the video testimonials on the website which show different people using the Back Liberator.

How long does it take to work?

This will vary for person to person but you only need to use it for 5 – 15 minutes at a time. We recommend you do not use it for longer periods, but you can use it twice a day if desired.
